Often compared to machine-made rugs in terms of quality, hand-tufted rugs are generally made of wool or a wool blend, providing durability, integrity and reliability. A hand-tufted rug is made using a quicker process than other hand-made rugs: the design of the rug is blue-printed onto a canvas backing and the weaver uses a tufting gun to trace the design and inject loops of yarn into the backing of the rug. Because of this process, hand-tufted rugs can be manufactured in a short time and are also incredibly inexpensive. The heavy pile also ensures that the rug doesn’t need a rug pad, a testament to its sound construction and durability.
