What are Hand-tufted rugs

Hand-tufting is the youngest way of making a handmade carpet. It is also the fastest of all rug-making techniques, facilitating a speedier delivery and saving time and money. These rugs are more affordable yet still retain great quality and individuality. Whilst still hand-made, hand-tufted rugs are not made by tying knots but by using a tufting gun. The design of the rug is blue-printed onto the canvas backing and the weaver, using the tufing gun, traces the design by injecting loops of yarn (wool / viscose / bamboo silk / jute/ linen etc.) into the backing cloth. Once the weaving is completed, the loops are secured by applying a layer of latex glue on the backing cloth and then an additional backing cloth is applied.

Lastly, our beautiful rug undergoes a final process: sheering. The loops on top of the rug are cut thus making the cut pile. The rug is then washed, stretched and bound. The rugs is now ready to be sent to its loving home.
